    D&D Stereotypes

    Hey guys,

I am planning to making a short little video talking about the stereotypes associated with D&D. Help me hammer out what the big ones are so that I can directly reference them during this short film. If we get enough activity here, I'll even toss out some shout-outs.

This is ALL going to be comedic in nature. It's about poking fun (and holes) in common misconceptions about D&D and role-players in general.

Well I would say the living in your mother's basement and unable to approach a female. That all gamers are socially awkward teenage boys. Of course based on how old you are, some of us may remember the good old days of D&D satanism. Check out this link for more proof of this. http://t.co/rgjKPWz These are a few of the more common ones I have experienced over the decades.

No other suggestions? This could end up being a fairly enjoyable short.

Play this little gem. It is a trailer shot for TSR. It is old and the best thing ever.

    Stereotypes:
    - the gamer that always brags on how good his characters are (without knowing that the game was all about).
    - the fanboy gamer who always plays Drizzt (and argues on how to pronounce 'drow')
    - the fantasy author who insists he doesn't play his own novel characters even though his PCs look exactly alike (I just know Ed will love to play this one! Or you can ask Erik *ducks*)
    - the gamer-with-the-wife-and-kids who takes the baby to a game (and let it roll dice, too!).
    - The WoW gamer who tries out D&D 'because he heard they had made some kind of RPG game out of WOW.
    - The sleep-deprived gamer who spends all his time on gaming, and has a game on two minutes
    - The girl who plays the game because her boyfriend does, but doesn't get it at all
    - The gamer who THINKS he knows all the rules, and insists on the constantly, but he never is right (and even when he is, he people won't say he is)

Personally I am the narrative gamer, who knows all the backgrounds and writes a lot, but has little time actually playing, and when he does has characters with histories twenty pages thick.
